Viaro’s Year in ESG: 38 different charities supported throughout 2023

Thursday, 25 January 2024

As we reflect on the accomplishments of the past year in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, we are pleased to share the success of our efforts. In 2023, we directed substantial support towards positive change, with donations distributed among 38 diverse charities. These contributions underscore our commitment to fostering a company ethos founded on the themes of sustainability and social responsibility, as we actively engage in initiatives that promote environmental conservation, social responsibility, and effective governance.

The impact of our collective efforts is not only measured in financial terms but also in the tangible positive influence we’ve had on the communities and causes we hold dear. This retrospective serves as a testament to our dedication to making a difference.

Viaro/RockRose Energy Charity Fund (VRECF)

The cornerstone of Viaro’s commitment to social responsibility is the Viaro/RockRose Energy Charity Fund (VRECF). The Fund is dedicated to supporting local communities in the UK.

In 2023, Viaro Energy’s charity activities benefited 38 organisations in both London and Aberdeen. The unique aspect of the VRECF is its employee-driven nature, empowering Viaro’s workforce to contribute to causes close to their hearts.

Last year’s donations were instrumental in supporting a diverse range of causes, including education, food banks, and mental health services. Viaro Energy’s commitment to addressing critical societal issues reflects the company’s holistic approach to corporate social responsibility.

At Viaro/RockRose, we believe that true impact comes from aligning our charitable efforts with the causes about which our employees are passionate. By giving them the autonomy to choose causes they deeply care about, we foster a sense of community and purpose within our organizations.

Noteworthy Events in 2023

Ochil Ultra Marathon: During September 2023, members of the RockRose Energy team took part in the Ochil Ultra Marathon, covering a 50-mile route from Perth to Stirling University, with the aim of fundraising for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. This foundation, established to fund research on Motor Neuron Disease, pays tribute to the late rugby player Doddie Weir OBE. The team successfully raised £5,000, exceeding their fundraising goal by 250%. This accomplishment underscores the company’s dedication to endorsing significant causes that resonate with the values of its employees.

Collaboration with Aberdeenshire Council Ranger Service: RockRose Energy staff joined an Aberdeenshire Council Ranger Service event to preserve Portlethen Moss, a crucial nature reserve. They constructed two Piling dams under Ranger guidance to maintain proper water levels, supporting moss restoration for biodiversity and carbon capture. This aligns with the company’s ESG program, demonstrating commitment to community and environmental initiatives.

Looking ahead to 2024

As Viaro Energy looks ahead to 2024, we express our ongoing dedication to supporting the local communities where we operate.

We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on society through our ESG practices and community engagement.
